Sony’s Kraven the Hunter Movie Adds Levi Miller in a Mystery Role

While Morbius’ luck at the box office continues to run out, Sony is pushing ahead with more MCU-adjacent Marvel movies. Deadline brings word that Levi Miller has booked a role in the studio’s upcoming Kraven the Hunter standalone film. But the nature of his character is still a mystery.

Miller’s breakthrough came in 2015 when he played the title role in Pan. Since then, he has shown up in The CW’s Supergirl and Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time. Most recently, Miller appeared opposite Jason Isaacs in Streamline, which was released last year.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson was cast as the film’s title character almost a year ago. Kraven has long been one of Spider-Man’s deadliest adversaries in Marvel’s comic book universe. But if Sony’s last three Marvel features are any indication, we can likely rule out an appearance by the wall-crawler himself. Over the last few months, director J.C. Chandor haș filled out the supporting cast with an impressive roster of talent. The movie will also mark the live-action debuts of the Chameleon (Fred Hechinger), Calypso (Ariana DeBose), and The Foreigner (Christopher Abbott). Russell Crowe and Allesandro Nivola are on the call sheet as well.

Chandor is directing Kraven the Hunter from a screenplay by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk. Sony is also currently developing live-action films for other Marvel characters like Madame Web and Spider-Woman. But given the recent backlash to Morbius (specifically its two post-credits scenes), it may be hard for the studio to win over fans to its separate film universe.

Kraven the Hunter will hit theaters on January 13, 2023.
