Disney’s Live-Action Snow White Movie Casts Andrew Burnap

Rachel Zegler’s Snow White has finally found her live-action love interest, but his identity remains a mystery for now. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Andrew Burnap has been chosen to play the male lead in Disney’s upcoming re-telling of the classic fairy tale.

Those who have only seen Disney’s animated take on Snow White from 1937 will probably assume that Burnap is playing the unnamed Prince in the film. But according to THR, this isn’t the case. Nor is he co-starring as the Evil Queen’s Huntsman. Instead, Burnap will portray a brand new character created exclusively for the movie. He will also perform his own singing.

Burnap has primarily worked in theatre over the last few years. At last fall’s Tony Awards ceremony, Burnap took home the award for Best Actor in a Play for his performance in The Inheritance. On the feature side, Burnap only has two big screen credits to his name: Spare Room and The Chaperone, both of which premiered in 2018). However, he will soon appear in Hulu’s Under the Banner of Heaven as well as the Apple TV+ miniseries WeCrashed.

Zegler was chosen to headline the remake as Snow White last summer. Back in November, Gal Gadot joined the film’s cast as the Evil Queen. Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) is directing the movie, which will also feature new songs by the team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who previously worked on La La Land and The Greatest Showman. Marc Platt is producing the film.

Production on Snow White will begin in the U.K. this spring. Disney still hasn’t announced a release date.
