Gal Gadot Reveals When Wonder Woman 3 Might Start Filming

Wonder Woman 1984 didn’t exactly meet its predecessor’s standard of quality when premiered in 2020. Regardless, Warner Bros. has every intention of making another sequel with Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins returning as star and director, respectively. Aside from an appearance by Jenkins and Lynda Carter at last fall’s DC FanDome event to confirm the film’s development, we haven’t heard much about Wonder Woman 3 over the past year. However, Gadot has now given us as idea as to when Diana’s next adventure might get underway. Gal Gadot reveals.

Gadot briefly discussed Wonder Woman 3 in a recent interview with InStyle. Specifically, she revealed when shooting will begin, and it’s a bit further away than many of us were anticipating.

“We’re developing the script right now,” said Jenkins. “We’ll probably start in a year and a half or so.”

Warner Bros. has yet to set a release date for Wonder Woman 3. But if production isn’t starting until 2023, that means we shouldn’t expect the film to arrive any sooner than 2024. The sequel wasn’t originally expected to get underway until Jenkins finished work on Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. Although Lucasfilm recently took that film off its production schedule, it remains scheduled for late 2023, so it’s possible that Jenkins will still have time to visit a galaxy far, far away before she heads back to the DC Universe. As far as we know, Jenkins is also still developing a Wonder Woman spinoff film focusing on the Amazons of Themyscrira.

During the interview, Gadot also shed some new light on how her Wonder Woman experience altered her perception of herself as an actress.

“After the success of Wonder Woman. I could not believe that happened to me,” added Gadot. “When I was told that I was going to have my own solo movie, I was like, “Holy s**t. They’re going to find out I’m not a real actress.” You know the imposter syndrome? I was just like, “Fake it until you make it.” Then I was blessed to work with an amazing partner, [director] Patty Jenkins. We were literally arm to arm, shoulder to shoulder. We did it together. After we proved to the studio that we could bring people to the theaters and make it work, something really shifted.”
