Somehow, Neo and Trinity live again in The Matrix Resurrections. But the big question is why have they returned? And will the war between humanity and the machines reignite? Answers will come soon enough. But for now, The Game Awards has debuted the first clip from The Matrix Resurrections. In this scene, Bugs (Jessica Henwick) takes Neo (Keanu Reeves) on a portal-hopping trip to escape from the Matrix. Neo revisits.
It can be inferred from this clip that Bugs’ first encounter with Neo didn’t go so well. That’s why a few memories from his past life are projected around Neo before he is reunited with an old friend. Or is it simply someone who is using an old friend’s name as his own?
“What do they use with no landlines?” This sneak peek from The Game Awards has your answer.

Here’s the official description from Warner Bros.:
“In The Matrix Resurrections, return to a world of two realities: one, everyday life; the other, what lies behind it. To find out if his reality is a physical or mental construct, to truly know himself, Mr. Anderson will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more. And if Thomas…Neo…has learned anything, it’s that choice, while an illusion, is still the only way out of—or into— the Matrix. Of course, Neo already knows what he has to do. But what he doesn’t yet know is the Matrix is stronger, more secure and more dangerous than ever before. Déjà vu.”
The Matrix Resurrections will hit HBO Max and theaters on December 22.
