Paul Rudd Releases a Demon in a New Ghostbusters: Afterlife Clip

Early previews for Ghostbusters: Afterlife have shown Paul Rudd’s Mr. Grooberson tangling with a variety of supernatural threats, from miniature Stay-Puft Marshmallow Men to full-grown Terror Dogs. But this is just a small sampling of the paranormal menagerie that awaits him when the movie hits theaters later this month. Sony (via Fandango) has released a new clip from the highly-anticipated sequel that finds Rudd’s bumbling science teacher attempting to reactivate an old ghost trap. Check it out for yourself below.

You don’t need to be a parapsychology expert to know that tampering with a ghost trap is a bad idea. But given his obsession with all things Ghostbuster-related, Grooberson is willing to let caution fall by the wayside, even if it means endangering his students Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Podcast (Logan Kim), who join him in his latest experiment. After hooking up the trap to a school bus engine and giving it some juice, Grooberson inches closer to see what’s inside. However, he gets more than he bargained for.

The clip also reconfirms that Phoebe is the granddaughter of Egon Spengler, one of the OG Ghostbusters who saved the world on two separate occasions back in the ‘80s. Harold Ramis’ absence is bound to leave a big hole in the franchise. Regardless, the sequel’s new cast of heroes seem more than ready to carry the Ghostbusters torch in his wake. They will also get an assist from Ramis’ original co-stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife hits theaters on November 19.
