Latest Mortal Kombat Featurette Offers Closer Look at the Cast

Mortal Kombat will debut both in theaters and on HBO Max before the end of the month, and the hype is in high gear. Now a new Mortal Kombat featurette, via IGN, offers a closer look at the cast. And it features some fresh footage from Simon McQuoid’s adaptation of the popular videogame. The video presents Lewis Tan, who leads the cast as debuting fighter Cole Young. The short clip also includes Jessica McNamee’s Sonya Blade, Tadanobu Asano’s Raiden, Mehcad Brooks’ Jax, and Max Huang’s Kung Lao. Together, these mighty warriors will attempt their best to prevent Chin Han’s Shang Tsung from taking over Earthrealm. To complete the cast, Josh Lawson is playing Kano, Sisi Stringer stars as Mileena, Daniel Nelson portrays Kabal, and Elissa Cadwell is Nitara.

The official synopsis for the Mortal Kombat reboot reads:

“MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage—or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark.”

Mortal Kombat will premiere on April 23.
