Report: Billy Crudup May Rejoin Ezra Miller in The Flash Movie

Yet another Justice League alumnus is reportedly joining the cast of DC’s standalone Flash movie. However, this one has a much closer relationship with Barry Allen. Via Deadline, Billy Crudup is “in talks” to reprise his role as Barry’s father, Henry, in the new film.

Henry Allen appeared in a few Justice League scenes at Iron Heights Penitentiary, where he was falsely imprisoned for murdering Barry’s mother, Nora. He encouraged Barry to stop visiting him because he believed he was a “drag” on his son’s life. But at the end of the movie, Barry returned to tell Henry about his new job in a crime lab, indicating that he still plans to prove his father’s innocence.

It’s been known for a while that The Flash will put a new spin on DC’s fan-favorite Flashpoint storyline. So far, the cast includes Ezra Miller as the title character as well as Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as two different versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman, which pretty much guarantees that the Scarlet Speedster will be hopping between parallel realities in the film. During August’s DC FanDome event, fans got an early look at the new suit that Miller’s character will be wearing. Andy Muschietti is directing The Flash from a screenplay penned by Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson.

Crudup recently scored an Emmy win for his supporting role on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show. And of course, comic fans also know him from bringing Doctor Manhattan to life in Zack Snyder’s 2009 Watchmen film.

The Flash will zoom into theaters on July 1, 2022.
