HBO Max Adds Birds of Prey, More Batman Movies in August

Earlier this month, HBO Max subscribers were surprised to learn that a number of live-action DC movies were leaving the new streaming service shortly after it launched. That list included all four Batman adventures from the classic Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher era. However, those films are already on their way back, and they’re not alone. Via ComicBook.com, WarnerMedia has shared the full list of movies and TV shows coming to HBO Max in August.

Beginning on August 1, DC fans will once again be able to stream Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin on HBO Max. The first two entries from the Christopher Nolan series, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, will be available as well. Sadly, The Dark Knight Rises won’t be there to complete the collection. But even without Nolan’s trilogy closer, subscribers will still have lots of other DC-related content to hold them over.

It was announced last month that DC Universe’s acclaimed Harley Quinn animated series would eventually find a second home on HBO Max. Now, Warner Bros. has confirmed that the show’s first two seasons will also hit the new platform on August 1. This won’t be the only Harley-centric production to join the streaming service’s DC library this summer.  Two weeks later, Birds of Prey will arrive on August 15.

Reps for WarnerMedia previously explained the reason behind this month’s DC movie exodus. Apparently, DC content will rotate on and off the platform on a month-by-month basis. Some outlets have theorized that this will encourage subscribers to pay for both HBO Max and DC Universe.
