Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Cast to Reunite For a Virtual Table Read

Next month marks a full decade since Scott Pilgrim vs. the World opened in theaters. The film memorably earned positive reviews for its video game-inspired visuals and quirky performances. Unfortunately, it fared poorly at the box office, recouping only a little more than half of its $85 million budget. Regardless, the movie has developed a cult following in recent years. And to celebrate its 10th anniversary, Entertainment Weekly is gathering up the cast and crew for a virtual readthrough of the film’s script.

Just about every actor who had a major role in the movie is participating in the event. The guest list includes Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, Aubrey Plaza, Ellen Wong, Kieran Culkin, Mark Webber, Johnny Simmons, Alison Pill, Satya Bhabha, Mae Whitman, Brandon Routh, and Jason Schwartzman. Writer and director Edgar Wright and co-writer Michael Bacall will also make appearances, as will Bryan Lee O’Malley, who wrote and illustrated the original Scott Pilgrim graphic novels. The readthrough will benefit Water For People, an organization that strives for high-quality drinking water and sanitation services in underserved communities.

EW previously rang in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’s 10th anniversary with an oral history of the film’s production. The article featured interviews with several members of the cast and crew, including Wright, Cera, Winstead, O’Malley, and more. Wright also announced plans to celebrate the milestone with a theatrical re-release courtesy of Dolby Cinema and Universal Pictures. But with movie theaters unlikely to re-open anytime soon due to COVID-19, it’s not clear when this will actually happen.

The Scott Pilgrim vs. the World table read will take place next Monday, July 20, at 1pm ET on EW.com.
