With its debut just over a week away, hype for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is building up quite a bit. And to continue it, a new featurette from Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Pictures has arrived. And it’s saying farewell to the Skywalker legacy in its own way.
The clip, included below, features director J.J. Abrams and a number of cast members looking back at the 40+ year legacy. It’s not all about new content, though — it also features archival interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from earlier films as well.
Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and other contribute their thoughts on what the Star Wars franchise meant to them. And there’s also a neat trick involving old and new interview clips with veteran stars Sir Anthony Daniels and Mark Hamill.
But there’s also a new bit of footage from The Rise of Skywalker, in which C-3PO shares a somber moment with his long-time companion, R2-D2. We won’t spoil it here, but you’ll want to watch it for yourself. (It starts at the 47 second mark.)
It isn’t nearly as spoilery as the previous clip that posted today surrounding Kylo Ren. So consider it something to watch, especially if you’re a Star Wars fan.

The Rise of Skywalker features the return of director J.J. Abrams, who co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Terrio. It also stars returning favorites, including Ridley, Boyega, Isaac, Adam Driver, Billy Dee Williams, Carrie Fisher, Daniels and Hamill. New to the cast are Keri Russell, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant and Dominic Monaghan, in yet undisclosed roles.
