Bill and Ted Face the Music Adds Holland Taylor and Kristen Schaal

The filmmakers behind Bill and Ted Face the Music have just recruited a pair of familiar faces for the upcoming sequel. Entertainment Weekly brings word that Holland Taylor and Kristen Schaal are the latest additions to the cast.

Taylor’s acting career stretches back to the late ‘70s, but younger audiences might know her best for starring on Two and a Half Men for 12 years. She has also recently appeared on Mr. Mercedes, which is based on the works of Stephen King. Meanwhile, Schaal has lent her comedic presence to a variety of shows. She is primarily known for her recurring role on 30 Rock and her voiceover work on Bob’s Burgers and BoJack Horseman.

Both actresses will appear as fixtures in the world of San Dimas of tomorrow. Taylor has been cast as the Great Leader. She’s described as “the most powerful person in the universe — the center of which is San Dimas, Calif., 700 years in the future.” Schaal is playing Kelly, a messenger from the future.

It’s not clear whether Taylor’s Great Leader will serve as an ally or an adversary to Bill and Ted. However, Kelly sounds like she might be a stand-in for Rufus, played by the late George Carlin in the first two movies.

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are reprising their roles as Ted “Theodore” Logan and William “Bill” S. Preston, Esq. Samara Weaving is playing Ted’s daughter, Thea; while Brigette Lundy-Paine is portraying Bill’s daughter, Billie. William Sadler will once again play Death, Bill and Ted’s unlikely friend and companion. Anthony Carrigan is playing the film’s villain.

Bill and Ted Face the Music hits theaters on August 21, 2021.
