Tom Holland Talks Deleted Star Wars Gag in Spider-Man: Far From Home

Although audiences have welcomed Tom Holland’s Peter Parker into the MCU with open arms, the 23-year-old actor has developed the unfortunate tendency to spoil movies before they hit theaters. With Spider-Man: Far From Home fast approaching, many fans are expecting him to slip up before its July 2 premiere date. Thankfully, he hasn’t faltered just yet, but his recent interview with Uproxx raises an important question. Does it really count as a spoiler if the scene being described has already been cut from the final film?

Marvel accentuated Peter’s geekiness in Spider-Man: Homecoming by giving him an affinity for action figures and Legos. Additionally, the MCU has made it clear that he’s a lover of all things Star Wars. But surprisingly, Holland has yet to visit the galaxy far, far away himself.  The actor admitted that he’s “really not a Star Wars fan,” unlike his onscreen counterpart. Regardless, he did describe a Star Wars-inspired Far From Home moment that was left on the cutting room floor.

“There was a scene that was cut from the film where Peter Parker went and sold all his toys to get the money in order to buy MJ a present…” Holland explained. “And one of the toys, it was Kevin Feige, he said, ‘I need this toy to be in there.’ I forget what it’s called, but it’s a really niche Star Wars character and then I end up not selling that toy.”

Since he’s not familiar with the movies, Holland couldn’t name which character this was. Fortunately, Uproxx contacted Feige and learned that Lobot was the action figure that Peter couldn’t bring himself to part with. It certainly would have an amusing bit of corporate synergy to see that fan-favorite Star Wars supporting character make an appearance in a Spider-Man film. But thankfully, we might get to see this on Far From Home‘s eventual Blu-ray release.

Should Marvel Studios have kept this scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home? Tell us what you think in the comment section below!
