Disney Shares First Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Teaser Video

In just under a month, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open at EPCOT in Walt Disney World. This will be the first Marvel attraction in Disney World, and also the first reverse-launch rollercoaster in Disney history. Until now, the only previews have featured glimpses of the Guardians and their supporting cast. Fortunately, that changed when the official Disney Parks social media dropped a new Cosmic Rewind teaser video, which you can see below.

Within the footage, Rocket and Groot are briefly seen before the Guardians’ ship takes on the Celestial known as Eson. Somehow, Eson has reversed the flow of time around the Earth, and it’s up to the Guardians to stop him. As for the attraction itself, the events of the story play out while fans enjoy the ride. It even appears to mimic the jump points from the Guardians of the Galaxy films.

You may have noticed that Groot looks more like his counterpart from the first Guardians of the Galaxy film, rather than the lanky teenage Groot from the MCU. That’s because the ride doesn’t necessarily follow MCU continuity. If you want to blame anyone for this multiverse of madness, our official position is that it’s Sylvie’s fault for killing He-Who-Remains at the end of time in Loki season 1.

Director James Gunn shot new scenes for Cosmic Rewind while filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper reprised their roles for the attraction.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open on May 27.
