1982 Tron Movie-Accurate Figures Are on the Way

Following the success of the animated-style 1982 Tron figures that were sprinkled into the Kingdom Hearts action figure line, Diamond Select is going all-in on movie versions. With deluxe articulation and actor likenesses, the company will be launching the line with Sark (David Warner), Flynn (Jeff Bridges) and Tron (Bruce Boxleitner). The line boasts a high level of articulation and screen-accurate detail. Additionally, each figure comes with a piece of a larger Recognizer vehicle to collect and build.

The above image is the only one we have so far. As such, it’s not yet known if you only have to buy the three figures to get a Recognizer. It could be part of a much larger, long-term line like Ghostbusters that will require buying 12-15 figures. The fact that their initial Flynn comes as the disguised red version rather than classic blue does suggest they’re saving a more familiar variant for a future wave. Nor do we know yet if the sequel is included, although of course that would open up many more possibilities. As would rights to any prior video games or animated spin-offs; we suspect Diamond is hoping this will be their next Ghostbusters.
