Supergirl Season 4 Episode 6 Recap

Turkey day came early for National City’s favorite crime fighters this week on Supergirl. Kara and company’s idea of post-meal activities unfortunately differs from the usual slew of football and shopping stampedes. In Supergirl season 4 episode 6, Kara faced the task of saving the alien population of the city she protects from Agent Liberty’s growing army of followers. Hopefully the DEO pays extra for working on holidays!

Our Purview

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 6 Recap

A group of masked members of the Children of Liberty confront an alien couple caught in a hot Thanksgiving pie debate. The attack doesn’t go as planned though as Manchester Black intervenes, revealing one of the masked men to be officer Petrocelli. Supergirl arrives to aid Black, but neither get any usable information out of the COL members as hundreds of flyers emblazoned with Agent Liberty’s manifesto fall from the night sky. Alex and Supergirl bring the manifesto to Haley’s attention, but she refuses to investigate the matter as it doesn’t fall under the DEO’s purview. Haley goes even further, reprimanding Supergirl for intervening in the assault.

Haley’s warning falls on deaf ears, though, as Alex and Supergirl continue their investigation into the Children of Liberty with Brainy’s help.  Elsewhere, Manchester Black continues his investigation as well by torturing Petrocelli.

Tableside Manner

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 6 Recap

James’s concern about the Children of Liberty’s co-opting of the Guardian as a humanist hero leads him to use it to his advantage in an effort to expose Agent Liberty. His plan to meet with a COL member unfortunately conflicts with a media appearance arranged without his knowledge by Lena. Despite pressure from his lover, James chooses the meeting over the appearance. Luckily, Kara offers to make the television appearance in his place. The round table program pits her against Ben Lockwood in a war of words over alien/human relations. Kara’s appeal to Thanksgiving’s message of family community is soundly drowned out when Ben compares National City’s alien population to the pilgrims that slaughtered the Native Americans. The audience applauds Ben as Kara is overcome with distress at their approval.

The feeling persists as Kara joins friends and family around the dinner table on Thanksgiving Day. Amid Nia’s odd resistance toward treating her narcolepsy and Black pestering J’onn about mind-reading, Kara remains discouraged by the audience’s reaction. Lena points out that addressing humanity’s feeling of inferiority could quell anti-alien sentiments. The rest of the group isn’t sold.

Scarlet Letter

Supergirl Season 4 Episode 6 Recap

The group is able to decipher Agent Liberty’s latest plan over canned cranberry sauce. James deduces that the Children of Liberty have trained dogs to identify aliens and are marking alien homes with red “A’s”. Brainy discovers that the markings are only visible through infrared lenses used in the COL’s masks. Kara and Alex leave to prepare a defense while James heads out to keep the COL member he met with from participating in the attack. Lena tries to stop him, revealing her involvement in getting the case against the Guardian dismissed. James questions their relationship and storms off to complete his task.

The Children of Liberty take to the streets at twilight, but their efforts are uniquely thwarted by each hero. Brainy elegantly defeats a group with physics. Black responds with gunfire. James takes down his COL confidant. Supergirl ends up in a battle with an alien family’s defense dragon, but she is able to calm the beast. Their collective efforts save the city’s alien population. They even win Haley over as she allows the DEO to look into and combat the growing threat presented by Agent Liberty.

Unique Offenses

James negotiates a meeting with higher ranking Children of Liberty members. Lena begins human testing of her cancer cure turned invincibility treatment. Finally, Manchester Black gets a name out of Petrocelli: Caldwell.
