Jenny Sparks was the spirit of the 20th Century. Now, she’s back to rock the 21st Century. A member of The Authority, Jenny was presumed to have died in the original Wildstorm Universe. However, she’s getting a new life in a DC Black Label series, written by Tom King, with art by Jeff Spokes.
Who is Jenny Sparks?
Jenny Sparks first appeared in 1996’s Stormwatch Vol. 2 #37. She is a Century Baby, destined to influence humanity’s destiny for 100 years. Most of her adventures showed her encountering the likes of Albert Einstein, Adolf Hitler, and John Lennon. Beyond not aging since her 19th birthday, she can control the flow of electricity around her. She can also transform her body into pure electrical energy.
King describes the series as “an epic, thrilling, mind-blowing series.” It will invite comparison to his earlier series Strange Adventures, Mister Miracle, and The Human Target. King further described the story as centering around a rogue Captain Atom who takes multiple hostages.
This leads to Jenny traveling forward in time to save the day. King says the story will “explore the grip of Jenny’s time on our own; how, despite all our desperate prayers, the sins of our past refuse to die away.” King also praised the artwork of Jeff Spokes, describing it as “so damn good.”
