Green Lantern Confirms Earth Now Stands Alone in DC Universe

The current Green Lantern monthly series has found Earth quarantined from the rest of the DC Universe. This is thanks to the efforts of the United Planets, who took over the Green Lantern Corps in the Guardians’ absence. However, Green Lantern #8 by Jeremy Adams and Amancay Nahuelpan reveals that someone has gone one step further to isolate Earth.

The issue finds Hal Jordan and Razer struggling with how to warn the United Planets of a plot against the Lantern Corps. Razer came to Earth hoping to enlist Jordan’s help in fighting the forces that destroyed the Blue Lanterns. Unfortunately, the Power Ring Hal created through sheer force of will would not allow him to leave Earth’s atmosphere.

Following Razer’s suggestion that one of his allies might be able to help, Hal sought out Madame Xanadu. One of the most powerful magicians on Earth, Xanadu should have been able to send a message across space with ease. However, there was one problem with the Green Lantern of Earth’s plan.

Earth is Now Magically Isolated

Madame Xanadu revealed that Hal Jordan was not the only person to contact her about traveling to deep space. His archenemy Sinestro, who was previously marooned on Earth, also sought a magical means of escape. Her effort to aid him led to the discovery that someone had magically blockaded Earth on a cosmic level. Madame Xanadu had no idea who was responsible, beyond their needing to be powerful to counter her powers. This news that Earth has been magically and physically isolated from the larger universe bodes ill for Earth’s heroes.

However, a larger issue may be the United Planets working against the Corps. This possibility became apparent after a United Planets Lantern team ambushed Razer and Hal Jordan, claiming Razer was an outlaw. For some reason, they were more concerned with Hal Jordan’s use of an unauthorized Green Lantern ring than they were with the evidence of a threat against the order they are meant to uphold.

Green Lantern #8 is now available at comic shops everywhere.
