The Titans: Beast World event has seen Amanda Waller increasing her power over Earth’s superheroes. However, the situation has grown worse in the wake of two heroes’ deaths at the hands of the woman called “the Wall.” The preview for Titans: Beast World #5 ups the ante yet again, with the full scope of her machinations finally revealed.
Written by Tom Taylor with art by Ivan Reis and Eduardo Pansica, Titans: Beast World #5 explores the aftermath of Beast Boy’s death. Still hurting, the Titans are horrified to discover that the American government, through a new Bureau of Sovereignty, is taking credit for killing Beast Boy. What is worse, the Bureau’s leader is publicly identified as Amanda Waller. This leads Waller to reveal her plan for killing all the beast-folk created by the Beast World crisis.

Why Amanda Waller is More Dangerous Than Ever
Amanda Waller has been a thorn in the side of the superhero community for years. Her Suicide Squad program released numerous villains from prison in exchange for service to the American government. The one advantage the heroes had against “the Wall” was her need for total secrecy to operate. The threat of exposure was often their only source of leverage.
With Amanda Waller now openly leading a government organization devoted to controlling metahuman threats, the heroes have lost that leverage. Now, they have to fight Amanda Waller and her teams in both the field and the court of public opinion. This is not a battle they can win easily, particularly given the recent crisis caused by one of their own.
The biggest question in all of this remains what Amanda Waller’s ultimate endgame is. For all her paranoia, “the Wall” is a reasonable authority figure who would not risk the world over her fears regarding the dangers posed by metahumans. However, Titans: Beast World has seen her partnering with a Lord of Chaos dubbed Doctor Hate. This suggests there is another agenda in play or that someone else is pulling her strings, because while Amanda Waller is many things, she is no willing agent of chaos.
