AHOY’s Project: Cryptid #4 Preview Features a Punk Rock Siren Song

AHOY Comics has released an official preview for Project: Cryptid #4, which adds a new pair of mythical tales to the cryptozoological anthology series.

Project: Cryptid #4 arrives in comic shops next week. The issue kicks off with “Monstre Qui desole le Gevudan” by writer Henry Barajas and artist Salomée Luce-Antoinette. The southeast France-set story is followed by “Siren Song,” which comes from writers Liana Kangas and Jazzlyn Stone alongside the artistic duo of Ted & Ro. At this time, AHOY has shared five fully-lettered preview pages from “Siren Song,” which is built around an undersea punk rock anthem that reverberates on land.

An official synopsis for the issue reads as follows: “More creatures! More humor! Liana Kangas (Trve Kvlt) and Jazzlyn Stone take us on a high-seas adventure with a mermaid made for vengeance, featuring lyrical art by Ted & Ro. Then Henry Barajas (Beyondtopia Legends) and Salomée Luce-Antoinette take us to France’s southeast countryside to confront the fierce and terrifying beast of Gevudan.”

Project: Cryptid’s previous investigations

AHOY’s Project: Cryptid launched this past September as a six-issue anthology series. In issue #1, writer Paul Cornell and artist P.J. Holden tackled the Mongolian Death Worm. Meanwhile, Mark Russell and Jordi Perez told the tale of the legendary Yeti. Then, in October’s Project: Cryptid #2, Alisa Kwitney and Alain Mauricet offered their take on the Chupacabra, while Alex Segura and Steve Bryant took a look at the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker.

Things continued in November with Project: Cryptid #3. In that issue, writer Bryce Ingman explored the legend of the Loveland Frogman, while fellow writer Paul Constant shone a light on the Gumerboo. Peter Krause pulled double duty, providing art for both stories. Following issue #4’s release this month, issues #5 and #6 will hit stands in January and February, respectively.

Project: Cryptid #4 goes on sale Wednesday, December 20 from AHOY Comics.
