Have you been wondering what’s going on in Jonathan Hickman’s X-Men relaunch? This week’s House of X #5 is going to shed some light on the mutant nation of Krakoa, among other surprises. But Marvel is already looking ahead to next month’s Dawn of X. Earlier today, the publisher released a video trailer for six of the new titles headlined Hickman and his collaborators.
Hickman and artist Leinil Francis Yu’s X-Men #1 will kick off the relaunch in October. The team is almost an all-Summers family affair, with Cyclops, Rachel Summers/Grey, Corsair, Havok, Cable, and Vulcan. Of course, Jean Grey is Cyclops’ (former?) wife, and it’s just not an X-Men book without Wolverine.
Tini Howard and Marcus To’s Excalibur #1 is also glimpsed in the trailer, as Psylocke accepts the mantle of Captain Britain from her brother. Meanwhile, Gerry Duggan and Matteo Lolli’s Marauders co-opts the name of the X-Men’s long time foes. Kate Pryde is dropping the “Kitty” from her name as she commands a ship with her former X-Men teammates.
In November, Hickman, co-writer Ed Brisson, and artist Rod Reis are bringing back New Mutants, most of whom died in the last Uncanny X-Men series. Regardless, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, Karma, Magik, and Cypher are back together again. The trailer hints at the additions of Chamber and Mondo, while also featuring an encounter with the Starjammers.
Bryan Edward Hill and Szymon Kudranski’s Fallen Angels follows the misfits of the X-Men world. Psylocke’s other self, Kwannon, is joining Cable and X-23 as they try to find a place in the new status quo for mutants. Finally, X-Force #1 will reintroduce the black ops team of X-Men. Benjamin Percy and artist Joshua Cassara are the creative team for that book, which will also launch in November.
