In a classic case of history repeating itself, 20th Century Fox has moved their 2007 superhero sequel Fantastic Four 2 off its plum 4th of July release date to June 15, two weeks earlier, presumably to get away from DreamWorks’ Transformers, which also laid claim to the holiday release date.
This follows the similar move of the original Fantastic Four away from the same weekend last year when it would have gone up against Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds, a move which proved to be a smart one for the studio.
