Fox Searchlight has hired writer/directors Alex and Andrew Smith (The Slaughter Rule) to adapt and helm the graphic novel Son of the Gun, says Variety.
The book was written by Chilean-born author and underground fillmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky, who went on to create cult graphic novels including “The Incal.”
Set in the criminal underworld of 1970s Mexico City, the story is a modern retelling of “Oedipus Rex,” but one in which the protagonist has a tail and carries a six-shooter.
