Fan-Favorite Thunderbolts* Hero Could Lead MCU Disney+ TV Show

With the Multiverse Saga set to conclude next year, Marvel Studios has begun looking beyond Avengers: Secret Wars. The studio is reportedly planning on giving a fan-favorite Thunderbolts* character his own Disney+ series in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Released in 2025, Thunderbolts* brought together key characters from the Captain America, Ant-Man, and Black Widow franchises. The crossover movie united them against Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine and Lewis Pullman’s Sentry, the latter of whom has a villainous alter ego known as the Void.

By the end of Thunderbolts*, the Void had been neutralized, with Sentry joining the title team, which Valentine rebrands as the New Avengers. The post-credits scene, set 14 months later, sets up Avengers: Doomsday, with the New Avengers witnessing the arrival of the Fantastic Four to their universe.

Which fan-favorite Thunderbolts* character may receive his own Disney+ series after Avengers: Secret Wars?

With Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, and Hannah John-Kamen all confirmed to be returning as New Avengers members Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, John Walker, Sentry, Red Guardian, and Ava Starr, respectively, in Doomsday, it makes sense that Marvel Studios might have further plans for them beyond the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga.

According to scooper MAJESTIC_ucm on X, “there’s a rumor that after the reboot, we’ll get a Sentry series” in the MCU. The scooper further notes that the series will be based on the new Sentry comic book series, which Marvel Comics dropped issue No. 1 of on March 18. Normie, the Sentry’s pet dog, will also be part of the MCU show.

It’s unclear if the Sentry MCU series would be a direct adaptation of the new comic book miniseries, which has the following synopsis: “A bold, high-stakes epic about Marvel’s most dangerous hero – the SENTRY, a man with the power of a million exploding suns—and the dark entity born from his own psyche: the VOID. When the Void resurfaces, threatening to unravel reality itself, the Sentry must battle not only cosmic forces and criminal empires, but the monster within.”

As noted by MAJESTIC_ucm, this is merely a rumor at this time, so it should be taken with a grain of salt until officially announced by Marvel Studios. Also still a rumor is that the MCU is being rebooted after Secret Wars. In September 2025, Feige clarified that the MCU will undergo a “reset,” not a “reboot,” explaining, “Reboot is a scary word. Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline — we’re thinking along those lines.”

Sentry will next be seen in Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.
