Absolute Batman’s Horrifying Scarecrow Look Revealed

DC’s Absolute Universe has introduced a new villain design, drawing strong reactions from fans. A recent cover for Absolute Batman #19 features a reimagined version of Scarecrow. The artwork for the April 2026 issue presents a darker take on one of Gotham’s most unsettling adversaries.

Absolute Scarecrow look shared by Scott Snyder

Writer Scott Snyder revealed the design by artist Nick Dragotta for issue #19. The cover depicts Scarecrow reflected in Batman’s blades. From a distance, he appears composed in a 1920s-style American suit and hat. His eyes resemble buttons, and string-like details stretch across a cracked, gaping mouth.

Snyder also provided a closer look at the design during a livestream with Whatnot. He displayed an image of the character on his phone and showed it to viewers in real time.

In the Absolute Universe, Scarecrow appears as Dr. Jonathan Crane, a doctor connected to the Ark M facility. The upcoming issue suggests that Poison Ivy was only one of the threats inside Ark M. As the Joker shifts his focus toward Absolute Batman, he turns to Crane for assistance. Absolute Batman #19 arrives on April 8, 2026, priced at $4.99 (via League of Comics).

The current issue, Absolute Batman #18, is written by Scott Snyder with artwork by Eric Canete. The story follows the aftermath of Ivy’s infection spreading across Gotham. Batman confronts mutated creatures and uncovers a more serious threat beneath the city. Issue #18 releases on March 11, 2026. Issue #20 is scheduled for May 13, 2026, and hints at a major loss in Gotham. It also signals the introduction of the Robins in this universe.

Fans quickly reacted online. Some compared the villain’s appearance to Mr. Bean in disguise. Others described the design as unsettling. One user wrote, “Robbin will definitely be afraid to fight something or someone like this.”
