Twisters Cast Reacts to Co-Star David Corenswet Becoming the DCU’s Superman in BTS Video

David Corenswet‘s Twisters co-star Brandon Perea has shared a behind-the-scenes video of the disaster movie’s cast, as they react to the news that Corenswet will succeed Henry Cavill as the next big screen iteration of the Man of Steel.

Perea — who portrayed Boone, a videographer and member of Tyler Owen’s (Glen Powell) crew, in Twisters — recently posted a new collection of images and videos from the making of the 2024 box office hit on his Instagram profile, with the caption, “more twist. brisket. dance. superman. kairo. mustache. sleep. doll.”

The second video in the group has since gone viral online for featuring the cast mid-celebration after learning that James Gunn had selected Corenswet to play the DC Universe‘s Superman. “That’s our Superman, baby!” Perea can be seen shouting, while the Twisters ensemble jumps around and waves their hands in celebration. The video ends with Perea attempting to fly only to immediately hit the ground.

David Corenswet learned he was cast as Superman while filming Twisters

The video Perea shared was previously mentioned by his Twisters co-star Katy O’Brian while speaking with Collider at San Diego Comic-Con. “And then, everybody is just skyrocketing. Superman [David Corenswet] is on the set, and we all found out that he was Superman at the same time,” she recalled at the time. “We’re all, like, freaking out on set together, and there’s a video that I’m sure someone will post one day. But it was awesome. I love those guys.”

Written and directed by Gunn, Superman will be the first theatrical installment in the DCU, a soft reboot of the previous franchise, DC Extended Universe. Corenswet beat out several other up-and-comers for the title role, including Tom Brittney, Andrew Richardson, and Nicholas Hoult. The latter was later cast as Lex Luthor.

Other cast members for Superman include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White, among others.

Superman is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
