Marvel Honors Iron Fist With Oversized 50th Anniversary Special

Many heroes have used the Iron Fist name since Danny Rand first used his martial arts mastery to fight crime. Marvel Comics will honor that legacy, which has spanned five decades, with an oversized special. The special will feature a number of creators, from beloved veterans with a history of writing the series to hot new talents.

“Ever since I saw Danny Rand in those green and yellows, I was a fan. Not just because we shared a name, but because that look was so iconic,” editor Danny Khazem shared. “So to be able to work on this issue with all of these talented creators is a huge honor and pleasure. Danny’s story has spanned five decades, but the legacy of the Iron Fist spans millions of years! And this issue dares to be the next step in not only the future of Danny Rand, but the future of the entire Iron Fist lore! Strap in as this is just the beginning!”

The anniversary special will be made up of five stories spread across the long history of the Iron Fist legacy. Legendary writer Chris Claremont joins with artist Lan Medina, to tell a classic tale of Danny Rand’s early years. This story will also feature Wolverine as a special guest.

The modern Iron Fists, Lin Lie and Pei, will feature in a story by writer Alyssa Wong and artist Von Randal. The two must overcome their rivalry to stand against a classic Marvel supervillain. Another story, written by Justina Ireland with art by Elena Casagrande, will feature the Daughters of the Dragon.

Writer Frank Tieri and artist Ty Templeton will present a classic Heroes for Hire tale. The final story, by writer Jason Loo and artist Whilce Portacio, will set the stage for the future of Iron Fist. The comic will be presented with multiple covers by David Aja, Howard Chaykin, Kevin Eastman, and Alan Davis.

Iron Fist 50th Anniversary Special #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on August 14, 2024.
