Daredevil: Born Again Report Reveals New Info About Rumored ‘Mayor Fisk’ Adaptation

Marvel StudiosDaredevil: Born Again is said to adapt the story from the Daredevil comics in which Kingpin becomes Mayor of New York City — and according to a new report, this adaptation also incorporates Marvel’s “Devil’s Reign” and “Gang War” arcs.

Scooper site The Cosmic Circus reported that the street-level superhero projects in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Daredevil: Born Again and Spider-Man 4 as well as 2022’s Hawkeye and its January 2024 spin-off Echo, will follow the “Devil’s Reign” storyline.

In 2017’s Daredevil #28, written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Ron Garney, it’s revealed that Wilson Fisk a.k.a. the Kingpin has managed to gain the seat of ,ayor, using his charisma and influence with the people of New York along with some rigging to win the election. His first act is to outlaw all vigilante activity, thereby obstructing local heroes like Daredevil who threaten his ambitions.

What does Daredevil: Born Again bring back to the MCU?

Daredevil: Born Again brings Vincent D’Onofrio back to the role of Fisk, which he played throughout the three seasons of Netflix‘s Daredevil series and more recently reprised in Hawkeye. Daredevil star Charlie Cox is also returning for Born Again as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, along with Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher.

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead will serve as co-directors on the series. The two were brought in when executives reviewed footage that had been filmed and decided to change direction. Dario Scardapane, executive producer on both seasons of The Punisher, was tapped as the new showrunner. The original showrunners, Chris Ord and Matt Corman, are still attached as executive producers.

The first season of Daredevil: Born Again will consist of 18 episodes and air on Disney+, expected to be under the Marvel Spotlight banner. A release window has not yet been announced.
