Hot Toys Gives the Snyderverse Affleck Batman a Makeover

Whatever else anybody might say about Zack Snyder‘s version of the DC Universe, most of us can agree that the Batsuit worn by Ben Affleck‘s Bruce Wayne is an impressively accurate cinematic representation of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns costume. Toy versions of it, though, haven’t been as accurate, often based on earlier concept art rather than the final execution, with a tendency to make the cowl and chin opening more angular. Hot Toys are a perfectionist company, so they’re not letting that stand. It’s time for Batfleck 2.0.

Revamp the Snyderverse

There are two versions of the newer Batman, and while Hot Toys deluxe versions often throw in pointless extra accessories just to up the price, this one’s worth the extra. In addition to the seamless cowl on the basic figure, the deluxe includes an articulated neck cowl that allows him to turn his head, a wired cape for dramatic poses, and an alley-style diorama base that allows for multiple display options, including a waist clip for mid-action moves. The price difference is $350 versus $290, but if you’re in for that much anyway, take it all the way.

The previous Affleck Batman figure is long since sold out. The new one features a redesigned body with broader shoulders and articulation that mimics real human poses more accurately. The unmasked Bruce Wayne headsculpt includes not just the rolling eyeballs, but also different swappable hairstyles. For the basic cowl, three different lower faceplates depict varying levels of grimdark Bat-rage. Bat-gadgets include a grappling gun with bendable wire, Batarangs, gas cannisters, and the controversial sniper rifle. If you don’t choose the deluxe version, the basic figure includes a logo display base and stand.
