Critical Role Unveils Candela Obscura: Circle of Tide and Bone

Critical Role‘s hit gothic horror monthly series, Candela Obscura, has unveiled a trailer for Chapter 3, the Circle of Tide and Bone.

The press release for the trailer teased the third chapter’s plot.

“Candela Obscura is an ongoing monthly horror drama that follows an esoteric order of investigators —known as a circle— who use centuries of knowledge to investigate strange occurrences and dangerous magick, fighting back against a mysterious source of corruption and bleed,” it reads. “This chapter finds The Circle of Tide and Bone grappling with their inner demons, while confronting ancient phenomena that seep from the foundations of Newfaire.”

Critical Role cast members Liam O’Brien and Sam Riegel join fellow voice actors Gina Darling, Ashly Burch, and Noshir Dala for The Circle of Tide and Bone. Critical Role: Exandria Unlimited DM Aabria Iyengar returns as gamemaster. While other details about the plot remain under wraps, the new chapter follows the previous two by including three episodes.

Critical Role Announces Candela Obscura Rulebook

The trailer for Chapter 3 follows news that Critical Role will launch the Candela Obscura rulebook this month. Published by Darrington Press, Candela Obscua employs Critical Role’s Illuminated Worlds system. Like Blades in the Dark, the system uses a D6 format designed by Stras Acimovic and Layla Adelman. Critical Role cast member Taliesin Jaffe created Candela Obscura with Chris Lockey, Spenser Starke, and Rowan Hall.

The sourcebook includes two versions: standard, priced at $39.99, and a limited edition cover for $59.99. The limited edition cover features “faux leather with an exclusive cover design, debossed and filled with metallic ink.” Critical Role also has a free start-up guide on its website. The Candela Obscura rulebook releases on November 14.

Candela Obscura: The Circle of Tide and Bone launches simultaneously on Twitch and YouTube on November 30 at 7 PM Pacific.
