Aquaman 2 Release Date Delayed by 2 Days

The Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom release date has been pushed back once again, though this delay isn’t a large one.

Variety reported that the long-awaited DC Studios sequel has been delayed from Wednesday, December 20 to Friday, December 22, 2023. The move pushes the Aquaman sequel a bit further away from Wonka, giving Warner Bros. more of a gap between two of its big films this holiday season.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is once again directed by James Wan from a screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The sequel features the return of Jason Momoa as he reprises the leading role of Arthur Curry/Aquaman. Joining him are various returning cast members, including Patrick Wilson as Orm, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Amber Heard as Mera, and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.

What is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom about?

“Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all,” reads the official synopsis. “This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.“

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom now arrives in theaters on December 22.
