Disney’s Percy Jackson Reboot Casts Three New Supporting Roles

Percy Jackson won’t be the only demigod making a splash at Camp Half-Blood next year. Variety brings word that the upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians reboot on Disney+ has cast three new guest stars for the show’s first season. Dior Goodjohn, Olivea Morton, and Charlie Bushnell have all booked supporting role in the highly-anticipated series.

Goodjohn (left) and Bushnell (right) will appear in recurring guest star roles as Clarisse La Rue and Luke Castellan respectively. In Rick Riordan’s books, Clarisse was introduced as a daughter of Ares whom Percy meets at Camp Half-Blood, a training facility for those with godly parentage. Described as “strong-willed” and a “competitive fighter,” she also happens to be a bully who doesn’t make Percy’s stay at the camp any easier.

Luke, on the other hand, is the son of Hermes, the messenger of the Olympian gods. He acts as a counselor at Camp Half-Blood’s Hermes cabin and is largely considered to be the “undisputed coolest kid on the block,” especially when it comes to his unmatched swordsmanship skills.

Finally, Morton will guest-star as Nancy Bobofit, a mortal student at Percy’s middle school. According to her character description, Nancy is “loud, proud, and a teacher’s pet” who “always speaks her mind at the expense of others,” including Percy himself. Nancy is also remembered for being a kleptomaniac in Riordan’s novels. Regardless, it’s not clear if she will appear as such in the TV series.

Previously, Goodjohn appeared in reboots of Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Head of the Class. But Morton and Bushnell are both relative newcomers to the TV industry. Bushnell last appeared as a series regular on Disney+’s Diary of a Future President. Meanwhile, Morton has only shown up in a few short films over the years. Landing Percy Jackson marks the first major TV role of her career.

Walker Scobell is headlining Percy Jackson and the Olympians as the title character, with Aryan Simhadri and Leah Sava Jeffries co-starring as his best friends, Grover Underwood and Annabeth Chase. Other cast members include Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally and Timm Sharp.

Disney+ hasn’t announced a premiere date for Percy Jackson and the Olympians. However, a 2023 premiere seems likely.
