Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Trailer Debuts At Star Wars Celebration

Rumors about a follow-up to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order began swirling as soon as the original game hit stores in 2019. But during today’s Star Wars Celebration festivities, Lucasfilm finally made it official. Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have announced Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a sequel to Fallen Order that pits Cal Kestis against a motley crew of new Sith adversaries. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailer

Cameron Monaghan reprises his role as Cal, a young Jedi who survived the purge of Order 66 and came out of hiding five years later in search of the key to rebuilding the Jedi Order. Cal’s mission took him and several new allies to a number of different planets across the galaxy in their very own starship, the Mantis. But if this latest teaser is anything to go on, he won’t have as much help on the next leg of his journey.

Given the lukewarm response to EA’s earlier Star Wars titles, Fallen Order was a pleasant surprise when it premiered to critical acclaim almost three years ago. Many reviews singled out the engrossing narrative and lightsaber combat as two of its greatest strengths. However, Survivor’s trailer indicates that a much bleaker story is on the way. For one thing, it opens with the Mantis crash-landing on a mysterious desert planet. Most of Cal’s other allies, including Cere Junda and Greez Dritus, are nowhere to be found. But at least he has his trusty droid companion, BD-1, to keep him company.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in 2023.
