Sideshow Celebrates Black Panther with Bust and Quarter-Scale Statue

It’s been four years since Black Panther graced movie screens and smashed box-office records. And while Marvel figures out a sequel without the late star Chadwick Boseman, and with COVID and injuries delaying things further, Sideshow is celebrating the original. Two new collectibles accentuate different aspects of the movie’s appeal. On the one hand, a realistic, quarter-scale statue of star Boseman in costume. On the other, an Urban Aztec bust interpretation of the character that attests to his crossover appeal across all cultures.

The quarter-scale premium format figure, made of polystone, stands over two feet tall and depicts T’Challa standing atop a statue of Bast. Display him either masked or unmasked. Either way, he sports a determined gaze, and a suit that “features both matte and glossy black paint applications as well as Vibranium silver accents to emphasize the detailed textures,” per the description. This hefty statue runs $620, with payment plans available.

The Urban Aztec bust goes easier on the wallet and shelf space. Artist Jesse Hernandez’s indigenous art-inspired take on Black Panther stands shy of 8 inches tall, and costs $160. The color scheme includes blacklight-reactive paint, for a Vibranium charge appearance.
