Uncharted Gets Marvel-Style Cast Poster and New Synopsis

With just over a month to the release of the Uncharted movie, barring any last-minute postponements, Sony debuted a new, more finalized poster. And probably by design it resembles the final versions of many Marvel movie posters, as a sea of Photoshopped heads. Now even casual viewers will know that Antonio Banderas joins Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in the game-inspired feature. Take a look at the whole thing below:

For fans of a previous generation of adventure movies, the map and compass-point backdrop combined with flaming torches evokes the National Treasure franchise as well. Curiously, what the studio isn’t selling is that it’s from the director of Venom, Ruben Fleischer. From Tom Hardy in that film to Woody Harrelson in Zombieland, Fleischer tends to give actors a lot of leeway to ham it up. We’ll see if Wahlberg takes it.

Sony’s official synopsis also underwent a more descriptive upgrade. Here’s the new one:

“Street-smart thief Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to recover a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago.  What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs.  If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate’s long-lost brother…but only if they can learn to work together.”
