Devil’s Reign Event Pits Kingpin Against New York’s Heroes
Last week, Marvel announced a handful of upcoming titles that will set the stage for big happenings as we head into 2022. Now, the first of those titles has a cover and a release date. Marvel has shared additional details for Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto’s Devil’s Reign.
Wilson Fisk has been the mayor of New York since before Zdarsky and Checchetto took over as Daredevil’s creative team. However, this six-issue miniseries will bring Fisk’s stranglehold on the city to a whole new level. Instead of just targeting the Man Without Fear, the Kingpin now has his sights set on some of the Big Apple’s other famous superheroes, including the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage.
Armed with “shocking truths” about these characters along with an army of supervillains that includes Crossbones, Taskmaster, Typhoid Mary, Shocker, Whiplash, Rhino, and Kraven, Fisk will stop at nothing until all the heroes have been destroyed.

“Our Daredevil plan just kept getting bigger and bigger, to the point where it would clearly affect the Marvel Universe in huge ways,” said Zdarsky. “Thankfully, Marvel recognized this as well and gave Marco and I the opportunity to tell the story on a massive stage with Devil’s Reign! This is a proper Marvel event springing from the pages of Daredevil and I think all Marvel readers will love what’s coming!”
“Devil’s Reign. Finally here we are,” added Checchetto. “I am really excited and happy to work on this Marvel event. I am also proud of it since it comes directly from our Daredevil’s series, that both Chip and I have been working on for a long time now. When I read the story of this event I was speechless. As a fan, I can tell you that I am happy to see Daredevil among the protagonists of this event. I have the opportunity to draw so many characters that I love so much, heroes and villains, and I’m trying to give everyone the dignity and respect they deserve. It will be great.”
Devil’s Reign #1 hits comic shops on December 1.
