Black Monday’s Yassir Lester Will Write Marvel’s Armor Wars

Marvel Studios’ Armor Wars series has found its head writer. Via The Hollywood Reporter, Black Monday co-star, co-executive producer, and writer Yassir Lester has signed on to script Armor Wars for Disney+.

Lester will reunite with Black Monday star Don Cheadle, who will also headline Armor Wars as James Rhodes/War Machine. Lester was previously a writer on The Carmichael Show and Girls. Surprisingly, this will not be Lester’s first work for Disney+. He also wrote for Disney+’s Earth to Ned and the Fox animated series Duncanville.

According to THR, there is no director currently attached to Armor Wars.

Last month, Cheadle told Collider that the series was still in a very early stage of development.

“All I know is that we’re going to go into the room in a couple of weeks and actually start trying to break the spine of the story and figure out who, what, when, and where for all of it,” said Cheadle. “It’s super early in the development stages so I couldn’t even spoil it if I wanted to. I don’t know what happens.”

Armor Wars is based on an Iron Man story in which Tony Stark’s tech fell into the wrong hands. With Tony out of the MCU, it falls to War Machine to put things right.
