Shawn Levy Teases a Stranger Things 4 Premiere Date Announcement
The final episode of Stranger Things 3 left fans on a pretty big cliffhanger. And more than two years after Netflix subscribers finished binge-watching the show’s last season, the Hawkins homesickness is still going strong. Luckily, a return to the series’ ‘80s-inspired suburbia might not be far off. During a recent interview with Variety, producer Shawn Levy hinted that new announcements about Stranger Things 4 are on the horizon.
Obviously, the new season encountered a few hurdles thanks to the COVID-19 outbreak. But even if the pandemic didn’t happen, viewers still would have had to endure a longer wait between seasons. Because according to Levy (who has also directed several episodes of the series), the scope is much bigger this time around.
“I shot in Lithuania right before the pandemic,” said Levy. “We have filmed in Georgia, Lithuania and New Mexico. So suffice to say, season 4 is sprawling.”

“The delay is due in large measure to COVID and the pace at which we have to work to do so safely,” continued Levy. “But it also happens to be the season that we chose to go much bigger. It’s the scale of this season and the multi-settings of season 4.”
Levy also acknowledged that fans have been waiting “way, way, way, way too long” for the new episodes to drop. However, it sounds like their patience will shortly pay off.
“It’s coming soon enough,” revealed Levy. “And as for when exactly that will be announced — quite soon.”
