The Crew Reunites in New Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 2 Trailer

Last season on  Star Trek: Lower Decks, Ensign Boimler abandoned his friends in favor of his dream gig. However, life on the U.S.S. Titan hasn’t been everything Boimler hoped for. Regardless, Boimler will soon be reunited with his fellow Ensigns Mariner, Rutherford, and Tendi for more crazy adventures on the U.S.S. Cerritos.

As part of Comic-Con@Home, Paramount+ has released a new trailer for Star Trek: Lower Decks season 2. And it looks like more familiar alien races are showing up. For example, it looks like a Tamarian is the new security chief of the Cerritos. And if you recall the TNG episode, “Darmok,” then you know that Tamarians speak only in metaphors.

It also looks like Mariner has managed to pick a fight with some Nausicaans. Or at the very least, she escalated a misunderstanding. One of the more amusing cameos is Tom Paris, from Star Trek: Voyager. That may be Robert Duncan McNeill’s voice, but it sure isn’t Paris!

Additionally, the conflict between Mariner, and her mother, Captain Carol Freeman, has warmed somewhat. They’re actually loving towards each other while Mariner is locked up for insubordination. That’s probably going to happen a lot this season.

Star Trek: Lower Decks season 2 will hit Paramount+ on Thursday, August 12.
