It seems that troubles are rising again in Westeros. According to a report by Deadline, production on the House of The Dragon set had to be halted due to a COVID-19 case. The upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff is currently developing in the UK, where the cases are spiking again. It appears that someone deeply involved with the production contracted the virus. Safety measures require that the production member — whose name hasn’t been disclosed — will isolate themself from the rest of the crew, who also have to quarantine. Production is set to resume in a couple of days.

House of The Dragon will trace the history of the Targaryen clan throughout their rise to glory. The 10-episode story takes place 300 years before Game of Thrones. The cast sees Doctor Who alum Matt Smith portraying Prince Daemon Targaryen with Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra. In addition, Paddy Considine is King Viserys I, the brother of Daemon and father of Rhaenyra. The project also involves Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower and Olivia Cooke as Alicent, Otto’s daughter, and Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, a.k.a. the Sea Snake.
A Song of Ice and Fire author George Martin created the series together with Ryan Condal for HBO. According to the producers’ plans, House of the Dragon will premiere on HBO somewhere in 2022.
