Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim Will Direct Marvel’s Secret Invasion Series

Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion has found its directors. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim have been chosen to helm the upcoming Disney+ original series.

Bezucha has previously written and directed The Family Stone and Let Him Go. As for Selim, he is best known for writing and directing The Looming Tower for Hulu. Selim has also directed episodes of Gracepoint, In Treatment, Hand of God, and Manhunt.

Secret Invasion was a 2008 event comic by Brian Michael Bendis and artist Leinil Francis Yu. In the original story, the alien Skrulls covertly replaced many key figures in the Marvel Universe, including heroes and villains, before launching a full scale invasion. Regardless of the more sympathetic portrayal of the Skrulls in Captain Marvel, the upcoming Secret Invasion adaptation will feature Skrulls who have infiltrated all walks of life.

Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn will headline the series as Nick Fury and Talos, respectively. As seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Talos is currently standing in for Fury on Earth while the real Nick Fury is somewhere in space on a Skrull ship.

Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke has also signed on for the series, with Olivia Colman and Kingsley Ben-Adir in supporting roles. Killian Scott has also recently been in talks to join the series.

THR’s report indicates that Secret Invasion will begin filming in Europe later this year.
