Last week, Lucasfilm cut ties with The Mandalorian’s Gina Carano over social media posts that the studio deemed “abhorrent.” It remains to be seen how the series’ producers will handle her character’s absence in season 3. But it looks like we shouldn’t expect any new Cara Dune merchandise to hit shelves in the near future. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hasbro has abandoned its plans to make more action figures based on Carano’s likeness. The company has also canceled existing pre-orders for the toys. That’s why Cara Dune toys may soon be much harder to find.
THR also obtained a statement from a spokeswoman for the online retailer BigBadToyStore. You can read what she had to say below:
“The Star Wars Black Cara Dune figure was released in 2020 and sold out not long after the inventory was received,” said the spokeswoman. “Hasbro planned for another production run and we were accepting pre-orders from that production run. Due to recent events, Hasbro was no longer approved to produce any more of this figure.”

Fans have generally responded well to Carano’s Mandalorian character ever since the series premiered on Disney+ in 2019. But over the last few months, she received backlash for allegedly mocking transgender pronouns, discouraging mask-wearing during the pandemic, and propagating baseless claims about widespread voter fraud in the recent U.S. presidential election. However, the studio apparently had enough when Carano re-shared a post comparing modern Conservatives to Holocaust victims.
Rumor has it that Carano was also in line to star in Disney+’s upcoming Rangers of the New Republic series. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case. Carano is also in need of new representation now that her agency, UTA, has dropped her as a client.
In the meantime, The Mandalorian season 3 will reportedly start production in April. The new season could arrive on Disney+ as early as this fall.
