William Jackson Harper to Narrate Serial Box’s Black Panther: Sins of the King

It’s been almost a year since Serial Box kicked off their line of Marvel-themed audiobook series with Thor: Metal Gods. Now, the platform is gearing up to release their next story headlined by the King of Wakanda. They’ve also secured a recognizable name to serve as the series’ narrator. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that William Jackson Harper will lend his voice to Black Panther: Sins of the King.

Harper is best known for playing Chidi Anagonye on The Good Place, which recently concluded its four-season run on NBC. Last month, he landed his first-ever Emmy nomination for this role. Harper also appeared on the big screen last year in Midsommar and Dark Waters.

Sins of the King follows T’Challa on an “adventure thriller” where he encounters an enemy who can raise the dead. Whoever this villain is, they will use their power to resurrect T’Challa’s father, T’Chaka, the previous Black Panther. Also appearing in the story are characters like Okoye, Shuri, Misty Knight, and War Machine.

“I’ve long been a fan of sci-fi, but there’s always been a dearth of Black characters in those worlds, especially when brought to the screen,” Harper said in a statement. “I remember seeing Black Panther in the theater and just being giddy about how many kids like me will have this be one of their first and formative sci-fi experiences, and how open they will be to seeing all kinds of people inhabiting these worlds as they grow older, which is why I am thrilled to be a part of this project.”

Black Panther: Sins of the King will run for 16 episodes. Serial Box has yet to announce a release date, but listeners can pre-order the series here.
