Logan Returns to His Roots in Wolverine: Black, White, and Blood

For nearly five decades, Wolverine has been the best there is at what he does, which isn’t always very nice. And later this year, his animalistic nature will be on full display in Marvel’s next Logan-centric series. Several big-name writers and artists are joining forces to tell new stories featuring the character in Wolverine: Black, White, and Blood.

Black, White, and Blood will run for four issues. As the cover and title make clear, fans can expect the clawed mutant to rack up a high body count. Adopting an anthology format, each installment contains three unique stories handled by different creative teams. To enhance its gritty feel, the series is being presented almost entirely in black and white with the occasional flourish of red to emphasize the character’s penchant for bloodshed.

Marvel has recruited some A-list talent to preside over Logan’s upcoming adventures. Writer Gerry Duggan and artist Adam Kubert (who also illustrated the first issue’s cover) will start things off by taking readers back to the Weapon X era. Matthew Rosenberg and Joshua Cassara follow this up by pairing Wolverine with Nick Fury on a spy mission. Finally, Declan Shalvey will close out the first volume by putting Logan in a deadly trap.

“I can’t stress how exciting it is getting all of these pages from the absolutely killer level of talent assembled for this book,” series editor Mark Basso told Marvel.com. “It’s become a hype cliché, but you’ve really never seen anything quite like this from Marvel Comics. And you’ve only seen a fraction of the first issue…”

Wolverine: Black, White, and Blood hits comic shops in November.
