Later this month, HBO Max will finally launch. However, it may still be quite awhile before the previously announced Green Lantern TV series will arrive on the streaming service. Regardless, HBO Max content chief Kevin Reilly couldn’t resist talking up the show during a recent interview with Business Insider. While Reilly didn’t share specifics about the Green Lantern series, he did promise that it and Justice League Dark would be a step above The CW’s Arrowverse superhero shows.
“Greg [Berlanti] has done a lot of really quality DC fare for The CW,” said Reilly via Heroic Hollywood. “These will not be that. These will be next step up in production value. You can expect the highest level of cinematic production values on those shows, and that’s the same for the projects we’ve announced with J.J. [Abrams].”

As alluded to by Reilly, Arrowverse producer Greg Berlanti is producing the Green Lantern series. Last year, HBO’s Sarah Aubrey confirmed that the show will feature Sinestro, the former Green Lantern who mentored Hal Jordan before turning against the Guardians. Sinestro also founded the Sinestro Corps; a villainous group whose lantern powers that are derived from fear instead of will power.
