Earlier this year, director Matt Reeves’ The Batman managed to film 25% of the movie before production was halted over the novel coronavirus pandemic. However, with no end to the crisis in sight, Warner Bros. Pictures has elected to push back the Dark Knight’s next movie.
Via Deadline, The Batman will now swoop into theaters on Friday, October 1 2021. According to Reeves, The Batman will resume filming in London once the current health restrictions have been lifted. But it’s anyone’s guess when that will happen.
Additionally, Warner Bros. has moved up The Flash‘s release date. Instead of dropping on July 1, 2022, the new date for Ezra Miller’s fastest man alive is June 3, 2022. Despite Miller’s recent run in with a fan, Warner Bros. hasn’t shown any inclination towards any action against him.

The release date shuffle has also affected New Line’s Shazam! 2. Originally slated to begin filming this year, the sequel to Shazam! has been booted from its April 1, 2022 date. Now, it’s scheduled to swoop into theaters on November 4, 2022.
