DC is Bringing The Batman Experience to Comic-Con

Comic-Con recently announced plans to make Batman the first inductee into its Character Hall of Fame. But as it turns out, DC has something even bigger planned for the event. DC is teaming up with AT&T for a massive off-site exhibit comprising all three levels of the future Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park. And fans won’t need a Comic-Con badge to get in!

The Batman Experience will give attendees the chance to fully immerse themselves in eight decades worth of the Dark Knight’s mythology. The exhibit boasts a number of attractions, The Dark Knight Dive may prove to be the most enticing. Guests will don cowl-shaped helmets and embark on a skydiving journey through Gotham City made possible by VR technology. They will also be tasked with finding Scarecrow, who is using his trademark fear gas to plunge Gotham into a state of perpetual terror. Other members of Batman’s rogues gallery will show up as well.

Similarly, visitors can check out the Batcave, a hub for Batman video games spanning multiple generations. The games on display include Batman: The Brave and the Bold, LEGO Batman 3, Batman: Arkham Knight, and Injustice 2. DC also promises that a few arcade games will be part of the lineup as well. Gamers can try their hand at Rogue Gallery Rumble, an “interactive punching bag experience” that projects animations and sounds throughout the booth.

Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to feast their eyes on countless props from Batman’s film and television adventures. Most notably, Michael Keaton’s Batsuit and Batmobile from Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman film will be on display in honor of that movie’s 30th anniversary. The organizers will also debut a brand new car “designed” by Wayne Technology. This vehicle will apparently “give fans a taste of their future entertainment experiences in autonomous cars with 5G.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Batman exhibit without some impressive artwork lining the walls. That includes a new six-foot black-and-white statue designed by Todd McFarlane. A few original pieces are being shared by none other than DC co-publisher and Chief Creative Officer, Jim Lee.

“DC is pulling out all the stops for this year’s Comic-Con to celebrate Batman’s 80th, from our dozens of panels to our newly expanded booth which is the largest on the convention center floor – The Batman Experience takes everything to the next level,” said Lee.

The Batman Experience will be previewed on July 17 and officially open from July 18-21. Will you be checking out the exhibit during Comic-Con next month? Let us know in the comment section below!
