It seems that the fans of Star Trek franchise will have to wait a little bit before the master of splatter and high adrenaline content Quentin Tarantino will get around to his first Star Trek movie. We already knew that he and J. J. Abrams pitched an idea for a Star Trek film back in November 2017, creating great expectations. Now the director has shared some new details about his future project. Speaking with Empire Magazine (via Trek Movie). Tarantino confessed that he hasn’t had time to work on The Revenant writer Mark L. Smith’s script yet.
“There’s a script that exists for it now, I need to weigh in on it, but haven’t been able to do that yet,” Tarantino said.
Obviously, Tarantino’s schedule was busy with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but once he is free from the post-production on his latest work, he will be able to continue developing the Star Trek film.

Discussion for Tarantino helming a fourth entry in the franchise began years ago. While details about Tarantino’s pitch aren’t public at the moment, it didn’t really come as a surprise when the director confirmed his intentions are to make an R-rated movie.
“Oh yeah! It’s an R-rated movie,” he added. “If I do it, it’ll be R-rated.”
As far as the movie’s cast, William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, and Jonathan Frakes have expressed an interest in being involved in Tarantino’s project. Star Trek co-star Karl Urban, though, called the director’s treatment on the franchise “bananas,” hopefully in a good way.
