The direction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is shifting forever after the events of Avengers: Endgame and the supporting stars of the franchise are already saying goodbye to their characters. The first original MCU talent to officially bid goodbye is none other than Iron Man’s Girl Friday and eventual girlfriend, Pepper Potts. Gwyneth Paltrow announced her retirement from the MCU after Avengers: Endgame hits theaters.
“I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point,” Paltrow told Variety. “I feel very lucky that I did it, because I actually got talked into it. I was friend with [‘Iron Man’ director] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first ‘Iron Man’ and then to watch how important it has become to fans.”

Paltrow started appearing opposite Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark more than a decade ago, taking on the role of Pepper Potts in a total of six movies in the MCU since the very first Iron Man. Her appearance in this summer’s Avengers: Endgame will seemingly be her last, though the actress has left the door opened to her coming back for a cameo.
“I feel honored to be a part of something that people are so passionate about,”Paltrow added. “Of course, if they said, ‘Can you come back for a day?,’ I will always be there if they need me.”
Avengers: Endgame will open on April 26. Do you think that Gwyneth Paltrow will actually do a cameo in another MCU movie? Share with us your thoughts in the comments section below!
