DC Universe Casts Will Patton as a Villain in the Swamp Thing Series

Will Patton Cast as Major Swamp Thing Villain for DC Universe Series

One of Swamp Thing‘s major antagonists has been cast in the upcoming DC Universe live-action series. Deadline reports that Will Patton will portray General Avery Sunderland, CEO of Sunderland Corporation.

Patton has experience battling against terrifying and mythical forces of nature, as seen earlier this year in Halloween. He has also appeared in Falling Skies and Armageddon, but this will be his first time opposite an Elemental. Sunderland plays a pivotal role in Swamp Thing‘s origin and Patton’s casting should excite long time comic readers.

General Avery Sunderland initially appears to be a benevolent businessman seeking to improve his Louisiana town. In reality, Sunderland wants all of the wealth and secrets within the swamp Alec Holland calls home. His Sunderland Corporation has connections to Holland’s Bio-Restorative formula research. When Holland disappears, Sunderland hires a scientist to discover what happened.

Swamp Thing will be co-written by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman with a pilot directed by Len Wiseman. The series will premiere on DC Universe in 2019. It is currently unknown when Patton will debut on the show or how many episodes he will be on.
