Exclusive Preview: Infinity Wars #5 Assembles a New Team

While Infinity War rocked the MCU, Marvel’s comic book is currently in the grip of Infinity Wars. The Guardians of the Galaxy’s Gamora has really gone off the deep end this time. Gamora successfully killed her adoptive father, Thanos, before assuming a dangerous new persona: Requiem. Shortly thereafter, Gamora defeated several of the universe’s most powerful beings to take possession of all six Infinity Stones. And with her Infinity Blade, Gamora has remade the universe. Essentially, she succeeded in doing what Thanos never could. Instead of murdering half the universe, she warped it. Now, heroes and villains alike have been combined into a single being with a unique history.

Loki, the Norse god of mischief, has emerged as the universe’s unlikely savior. Loki escaped Gamora’s wraith and assembled his own Cosmic Avengers. Joining him are Emma Frost, Kang the Conqueror, Ms. Marvel, Ant-Man, and the Immortal Hulk. There’s a lot of power in that group, but even they can’t hope to directly confront Gamora and her power. Fortunately, Loki has a plan…

Gerry Duggan and artist Mike Deodato Jr. are heading for the end game in Infinity Wars #5. In Superhero Hype’s exclusive preview, Gamora hits a dead end at the Quarry of Creation. Was there truly something to Loki’s warning about a hidden puppet master? After all, Gamora isn’t Requiem in every alternate universe. Meanwhile, Warlock comes to realize that the Warped heroes don’t necessarily want their old lives back. And they’re willing to fight just to retain their new identities. Finally, Loki’s new team finds who or what they’ve been looking for.
